Mary Meeker’s 2011 Web 2.0 Summit Presentation
Oct 18th
Every time I come to a Web 2.0 conference, Mary Meeker’s presentation is what I most look forward to! She’s been doing them for 8 years now and they’re always big on data, long on vision. You can view the presentation below and I’ll update the post in real-time while Meeker speaks (which will be in about 10 minutes time).
Mobile has been a big theme of her presentations over the past couple
of years. Sure enough, mobile is a big part of this year’s presentation. Although she says that mobile growth is still “early innings” – perhaps continuing the Moneyball metaphor
that her Kleiner Perkins colleague presented earlier today.
Note that when Meeker delivered last year’s presentation, she worked for financial services company Morgan Stanley. This is the first year she’s delivered the presentation as part of leading VC firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.

New Presentation Services From Zoho and Snap
Sep 30th
We have written earlier about ways to dress up your PowerPoints
with Zurb’s Reel and Arctic Fox. There are several other players getting into the game with presentation apps and add-ons that go beyond just making your slides more attractive. New this week are tools from Zoho.com, and Trivantis’ Snap by Lectora.
Snap is a $99 Windows add-on app for PowerPoint that creates a Flash file. You can capture voice narration for each slide and add various other visual and Web content. You synchronize your slide animations and sound tracks with the tool and then can publish it online. It adds a ribbon to your menu commands as you see in the screen shot below.

Zoho has long had its own Show presentation software but last week announced v3 with more gee-gaws such as dynamic shapes, richer image editing, and better transitions and wizzy effects. But it isn’t all just eye candy; users can chat with their collaborators and instantly see all changes to a presentation, and embed and share presentations inside Web pages too. Show is free for personal use.
Brainshark also has plans to introduce a new tool here sometime next month, and we’ll add the specifics in the comments. The big elephant in this corner is Adobe’s Presenter software. There are also other more expensive software tools geared towards presentations. What is interesting about Zoho and Snap is how they are beginning to blur the boundaries between the presentation slide data and the SaaS service that hosts the presentation or delivers particular online content to it.

iPad for Business Round-Up: Presentation Link and More
Aug 12th
The iPad isn’t just a hot new consumer device, it’s also an increasingly popular tool for business. Each week we take a look at the new or updated business apps for the iPad, and highlight trends in how tablets are being used in the enterprise.
This week we look at a new presentation app, a new project management app and the new version of Google Plus for iOS.
Presentation Link
Presentation Link makes it possible for multiple people to view the same presentation on different iPads. Instead of giving an overhead presentation, participants can follow along on their own iPads. It also supports VGA and HDMI output so that you can present to external monitors or projects as well. You can either sync with Dropbox or access presentations via e-mail. It reminds me of Conference Pad, which we covered here.
For more presentation apps for the iPad, check out our round-up.
MAPM Project Manager

MAPM Project Manager is a project management app for iOS that focuses on requirements gathering and planning.
For more project management apps for the iPad, check our list.
Google Plus for iPad

Before this week, the Google Plus iOS app was unable to run on the iPad. this week’s update changed that, and brought additional fixes. However, you’ll still be stuck using it in an iPhone sized version on the iPad. Our Jon Mitchell writes that he still prefers the mobile Web version on the iPad to the iPhone-sized experience.

9 Presentation Apps for the iPad
May 11th
Continuing our series on iPad apps for work, today we’ll look at presentation tools. Presentations seem like the killer use case for business travelers that need to give presentations but don’t need a full-powered laptop.
Not every iPad app is capable of outputting to a projector, so even if you want to present just Web pages, you’re probably going to need to download an app. Let’s take a look at what’s available.
Keynote

Many of you won’t want to look much further than Keynote, especially if you already use it on your Mac. The iPad version allows you to not only display Keynote and Microsoft PowerPoint files, but to create and edit presentations. It features built-in templates, animated slide transitions and the ability to export in PDF format. It costs $9.99.
But what if you want to present something from the Web? Or if you want to do some live white boarding? Or you need to display something that’s already in PDF format? Read on.
Power Presenter

Power Presenter lets you display local PDFs, websites or draw on the screen for live white boarding. Through the Web, you can display not just HTML but PDFs, PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, RTF files and iWork files. Of course, this requires an Internet connection, so if you’ll want to use a local PDF if you’re not sure about connectivity. It costs $1.99.
2Screens

2Screens offers all the features of Power Presenter, plus a couple of extras: the ability to use an iPhone as a remote, and it can the ability to open local Keynote and PowerPoint files. It costs $4.99.
Quickoffice

Quickoffice is a full mobile office suite, complete with a presentation app. It now also features the ability to present presentations using the VGA output, making it suitable for giving presentations and not just editing them. It costs $14.99.
Box
Box is a file storage and collaboration Web and mobile application. In addition to storage space, Box lets you edit documents. The latest version of the iPad app added support for VGA out. One caveat: the presentation will need to be in PDF format to view it from the iPad version. Box is free, but storing more than 5GB will cost you.
SlideRocket HTML5 Player for the iPad
SlideRocket, the presentation Web application recently acquired by VMware, has an HTML5 player for the iPad. You’ll want to combine it with Power Presenter, 2Screens or one of the applications listed below if you want to actually present it on an external device.
Other Web Presenters
There are a few other apps that display Web content via the VGA output:
