SEO duplicate contents question: Are site listings considered duplicated contents?

My intention is to create local listings for all bowling spots all across the world. If I copy/paste short descriptive paragraphs from their websites and add them to my site, would this be considered duplicated contents. Actually, the entire site will be just a copy/paste collection of contents. What could be the implication for my pagerank

is SEO (Search engine optimization) to be considered while developing a website or after developing it?

We are in the process of developing a PHP/mysql based site and like to know if SEO should be applied while developing it or after launching it. As you know by now, i have no idea about SEO as such.

Thanks for the help

Factors to be considered before starting search engine optimization

All small firms and internet marketing gurus are always looking for better ways to get top listing in major search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo. They wish to improve their site’s standing and get better rankings in search engines. This quest for improved results, known as search engine positioning, can be satisfied by following a few basic procedures. Before implementing your internet marketing strategies you should consider certain factors like in which keywords you wish to be top listed. What is average traffic of that keyword what is the search volume and competition on that keywords and on-page factors like keywords density, keyword proximity, keyword prominence, semanticity of keywords etc. some key factors to be considered are given below:- 1. Your website should sound like search engine friendly: Now a days if you create your website using flash still you don’t be worry about search engine factors now Google can easily cache content from flash. Flashy sites attract user eyes and it results in getting instant targeted traffic which improves rate of investment in generating revenue from your site. Peel away ads is new trend in website development and various new technology are used in website optimization like Ajax, flash, CSS, Dhtml etc. Use Brad crumb rule to make your website user and search engine friendly. 2. Choose Less Popular Keywords_ Don’t just use the most popular keyword phrases – the market is so competitive that you should be sure to include some special keywords relative to your website. This is especially true if you are just starting to market your site on the web. 3.  Choose Related Links__ Make sure that you don’t have a lot of irrelevant links on your site. The more closely the links on your site are related to your site, the better the chances of being ranked well in search engines. 4. Update Your Content__ You must be need to periodically update the content of your website, even if it’s only a slight change. Search engine spiders give better rankings to sites that update content often. 5. Don’t Oversubmit__ You need to consider the fact that many search engines don’t like automatic submissions or multiple submissions. Therefore, submit only once and don’t use a whole slew of submitting software.
