Google has a process that will allow you to remove pages of your website (or even your entire website) from their database. The first step is to put a “nofollow” instruction to the Googlebot in your metatag. Then you can use Google’s automatic URL removal system
http://services.google.com/urlconsole/controller
Here are Google’s instructions on how to remove a page http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35303
This is Yahoo’s instructions on how to remove a page from their database, which is similar to Google by making you put a noindex tag in your metatags first http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/deletions/deletions-03.html

DON’T remove pages, or lose them if you can help it. Replace content with similar content, etc. Why give up a well spidered page. ESPECIALLY if you have good search engine rankings. It is free marketing that you are giving up. ALSO, do not just duplicate similar pages to keep the listing since duplicate content can get you in trouble. Spend a minute to KEEP the pages the same. They will stay in Google until it catalogs, indexes, the site again, but try to keep the names the same and try not to lose already spidered pages.
March 21, 2010 - 1:30 am
If you just take the page away and Google keeps trying to spider it, it will generate a 404 page not found. Enough of these, and google will think your site is “broken”. Use yout .htaccess file and set up a 301 permanent redirect and once Google sees that, it will stop looking for the old page.
Also, submit a sitemap to Google and they will give reports on pages that they are looking for. this will help you keep your house clean so to speak.

Just replace the content!
I have downloaded some free trial SEO software, just a few days ago, so have not used it yet! But, I’m really learing alot for the free software. If they put this into an ebook, I’m sure they could sell quite a few copies!
*Also, on first link below is a website that offers about ten website and blog awards. They are FREE & even provide a link back to your site! Plus, they show the visitors that your site is a noch above the rest. Keep in mind, to get the award you have to have good info on your site and not just junk w/jumping graphics and tons of AdWords!
So, bottom line, GET THEIR FREE TRIAL SOFTWARE and even if you do NOT do anything else…you’ll learn a great deal about SEO from people who make their livelihood DOING IT!
